4th July Cola-Glazed Chicken (Print-Friendly Version)

Tangy, sweet cola glaze coats juicy drumsticks, ideal for outdoor grilling or oven bakes.

# What You’ll Need to Make This:

→ Main ingredients

01 - 900 g chicken drumsticks

→ Glaze

02 - 355 ml cola-flavoured carbonated beverage
03 - 120 ml ketchup
04 - 24 g light brown sugar
05 - 15 ml Worcestershire sauce
06 - 5 ml garlic powder
07 - 2.5 ml onion powder
08 - Salt, to taste
09 - Black pepper, to taste

# How to Prepare:

01 - Preheat oven to 190°C. Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil.
02 - Place chicken drumsticks in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Season evenly with salt and black pepper.
03 - Combine cola, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened to a glaze consistency.
04 - Brush half of the prepared glaze over the chicken drumsticks.
05 - Bake the drumsticks for 30 minutes.
06 - Remove from oven and brush remaining glaze over the drumsticks.
07 - Return to oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the glaze is sticky and caramelized.
08 - Allow the drumsticks to rest for a few minutes before serving.

# Extra Tips:

01 - For a smoky barbecue flavour, grill the drumsticks instead of baking.
02 - Adjust the quantity of brown sugar to suit your preferred sweetness.
03 - This glaze may also be used on chicken wings or pork ribs.
