01 -
Pat shrimp dry thoroughly with paper towels. Season evenly with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
02 -
Place flour in a shallow dish, pour buttermilk into a second dish, and spread panko breadcrumbs in a third dish.
03 -
Dredge each shrimp in flour, tapping off excess. Dip into buttermilk, then press firmly into panko to ensure complete coating.
04 -
Place breaded shrimp on a plate or tray and repeat the coating process with all shrimp.
05 -
Pour vegetable oil into a deep skillet or pot until 5 cm deep. Heat to 175°C (350°F).
06 -
Fry shrimp in small batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden and crisp. Do not overcrowd the pan.
07 -
Remove shrimp using a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
08 -
In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, red pepper flakes (if desired), and apple cider vinegar. Heat on medium, stirring, until butter melts and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat.
09 -
Arrange hot fried shrimp on a serving plate. Drizzle with hot honey glaze or offer glaze alongside as a dipping sauce.
