Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease a 23x23 cm baking dish. In a bowl, gently toss blackberries with 50 g sugar and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together remaining 150 g sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined; the mixture may remain slightly lumpy.

Pour batter evenly into prepared baking dish. Spoon sugared blackberries over the batter without mixing. The batter will rise during baking.

Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the surface is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the crust comes out clean.

Allow to cool slightly. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
