Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bites (Print-Friendly Version)

Bite-sized French toast with a cinnamon swirl, golden crisp exterior, and warm, sweet center—ideal for breakfast gatherings.

# What You’ll Need to Make This:

→ Bread

01 - 4 thick slices white bread, preferably day-old, each approximately 2.5 cm thick

→ Custard Base

02 - 2 large eggs or 3 small eggs
03 - 60 ml whole milk
04 - Pinch of fine salt

→ Cinnamon Sugar Coating

05 - 50 g granulated sugar
06 - 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

→ For Frying and Serving

07 - 42 g unsalted butter, divided
08 - Maple syrup, to serve

# How to Prepare:

01 - Trim crusts from each bread slice and cut into 9 uniform cubes per slice, ensuring even cooking.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt until homogenous.
03 - In a shallow bowl, blend sugar and ground cinnamon; reserve for coating the fried bread.
04 - Heat 7 g (about 1/2 tablespoon) butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Dip half of the bread cubes in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then transfer to the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes, turning gently until all sides are golden and crisp.
05 - Immediately transfer hot cubes to the prepared cinnamon sugar; toss to ensure even coverage. Set aside on a serving plate.
06 - Add another 7 g (about 1/2 tablespoon) butter to the skillet and repeat dipping, frying, and coating process with the remaining bread cubes.
07 - Arrange French toast bites on a platter and serve warm with a generous drizzle of maple syrup.

# Extra Tips:

01 - For best results, use bread that’s slightly stale to better absorb the custard mixture without disintegrating.
02 - Serve immediately for a contrast between the crisp outer coating and pillowy soft centre.
