Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain excess fat.

Stir in condensed cream of mushroom soup and sour cream into the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Transfer the beef mixture into a 33 x 23 cm baking dish, spreading evenly over the base.

Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer.

Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.

Bake for 25–30 minutes or until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
