Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared dish. Bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes.

Warm the mashed potatoes, stirring in sour cream and butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Gently spread the mashed potato mixture over the cooked meatloaf layer.

Sprinkle shredded cheddar evenly on top. Return to oven and bake 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
